About Us

Johnny's Story.

Gardeners Friend was started by Johnny Knox in the summer of 2008, while the business is brand new, Johnny’s passion for the garden is rooted in time.

From an early age Johnny had a keen interest in gardening from exploring Rowallane and Mount Stewart gardens on family days to planting sunflowers, pumpkins, and potatoes.

Johnny has worked within the landscaping sector on a part-time basis from leaving full-time education.

He is also a BSc qualified youth worker and is continuing his professional development in Horticulture at Greenmount one day a week.

Our Aims

  • To have a focused and motivated staff with integrity at its heart.

  • Be available to customers giving honest and clear communication regarding gardening advice, availability, and cost.
  • Completing all jobs with a high degree of attention to detail.

is to partner with you to make the most out of your garden.

Unlocking the full potential of your green space comes through having ownership of what you want to attain, dialogue around what stays the same/what needs to change, and having the support of someone who cares.

We take our inspiration from one of the most loved garden birds, the Robin, the Gardener's Friend. What characterises the Robin is that when work is going on in the garden, it is always present showing a keen interest in proceedings, encouraging and inspiring the weary gardener, but still busy at work.
